The Mt. SAC agricultural sciences program consists of coursework, laboratory work, and practical, hands-on experience in animal science, horticulture, and veterinary technician instruction. Our outstanding on-campus facilities and industry-experienced faculty give students a practical, real-world experience in a classroom setting.
Each year animal science students buy and sell farm animals, and our award-winning horticulture students grow and sell hundreds of varieties of trees, plants, and ground covers. Students also attend field trips and can intern with nearby industry in Los Angeles County, which is one of the largest dollar-volume users of horticultural products in the world.
Mt. San Antonio College has one of the largest animal science programs in California and the most comprehensive in Southern California. Students who are considering transferring to a four-year degree program can earn an Associate in Science Degree in Animal Science with specialization in Livestock and Horse Ranch Management and Agri-Technology. In addition, our program offers certificates in Livestock Management, Horse Ranch Management and Pet Science.
This program offers many degree and certificate programs designed to prepare students for careers in the broad field of ornamental horticulture, park & sports turf management, integrated pest management, plant science, and equipment technology. Students learn basic theory in the classroom and then apply it in hands-on learning outdoors.
Mt. San Antonio College offers an Associate of Science degree in Registered Veterinary Technology. The rigorous curriculum integrates lectures with hands-on labs in our 26,000 square foot agriculture building with animal hospital, and our 150-acre working farm. Students are given many opportunities to work with a wide variety of domestic animals and livestock.
